At Sheetz they finally started selling "Dirty" Chips. You can keep most of the flavors, but they have this one called Funky Fusion... it is unbelievable. You should check them out. A good vinegar flavor with a good amount of sweetness. I'm not a big potato chip guy, but I love these.

These are Mrs. Cider's favorite, and I love them, too.

Oh, and I tried some of those Utz Carolina BBQ chips last week and didn't care for them. All I could taste was vinegar, like tasting Silver Pig on a chip, which I'm sure was the flavor they were going for. Kind of reminded me of those stores in the '80s that sold all those different flavors of popcorn--there are just some things that popcorn (and chips) shouldn't taste like. :nono

Since the Silver Pig sells Western Carolina-style, this is expected.

blwall, for those of us who have never lived in North Carolina, can you give us the short version of the diffrence between eastern and western NC bbq, and where in the state (what town) is the dividing line between eastern and western, when it comes to bbq?

Generally, east of Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill (Eastern style).

Eastern-Style has no "help", it's just perfectly cooked meat sitting there by itself. It's got to be perfect meat prepared exactly, or it'll gag you. Western-NC-Style, on the other hand, is like Texas-style beef BBQ; you can take very average or even slightly under-average meat cooked just so-so, and with a great sauce a la' Lexington/Western-NC-Style, disguise the poor meat under/inside the taste-bud-tingling sauce.

As for chips, I rarely eat them, but the taco-flavored Doritos back in the day were legit.

Herr's Kansas City style Prime Steak flavor chips.

They're not the best chips ever made like the title suggests but they taste like steak. Which is kind of strange.

They're back. Had a bag just yesterday, in fact. Taste just like they used to.

I have found a nominee for the best tortilla chips ever and it has a flavoring that draws comparisons to the old Doritos taco flavoring ... but better:

We stumbled across this in the sale rack of one of our grocery stores that primarily caters to Hispanic shoppers (their prices are phenomenal). Once we tried them, we were instantly hooked.

Somebody will buy him out (most likely a big company based on Plano) and you'll be able to get them everywhere. In the meantime, you can take my word for their magnificence.
