I don't think I've ever read an article from Newsweek that wasn't at least a little left of center if not just straight-up liberal with some America bashing thrown in for good measure. And they wonder why they had to get bought out just to keep from going out of print...

Truthfully, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the European nations were better at some point in the near future, thanks to the out-of-control spending and massive debt America now has, plus our government pushing "reform," (or government takeover) of several industries, despite the fact our government doesn't know how to run anything very well (except the military, and boo Robert Gates for wanting to close the joint command center in Hampton Roads).

Uh, we try to follow Europe down the road in everything, and they are way ahead of us in suckiness. Unless they turn around first, I don't think we'll ever be that sucky.

Finland's schoolkids enjoy a laid-back and inclusive learning environment where shoes are optional, all teachers have master's degrees, and extra help is the norm: every year about one in three students gets individual time with a tutor.
What does wearing shoes have to do with education?

the government does a whole lot attempting to ruin the military, but on the flip side a lot of money is wasted..

I have witnessed first hand by our government run health care how ridiculously annoying it can be. Especially for dependents. Sometimes you have to jump through hoops just to get answers...

I will end there before I start ranting..I have forgotten what this thread is even about, but your post stuck out to me.
