Jones apparently did not see or hear the plane, which was "basically gliding," the coroner said.
The propeller had come off - maybe the engine wasn't even running at that point. Probably not as loud as a normal plane. Plus the ocean waves and wind tend to be fairly loud too. Pretty reasonable to not hear it under all those circumstances.

Look it was a freak accident. Does it mean that people should stop running? I think 01LUGrad would take umbrage to that thought. The guy was out getting some exercise and Im pretty sure he wasnt thinking "Gee, Im going to go running and let myself get hit by a plane falling out of the sky because running is stupid!"

And I was thinking the same thing SJ....seems like he's had that one in his pocket all day waiting to use it, couldnt pull it out in a social situation, so forced it here.
