Just finished watching this series via Netflix with my wife. Very well done. Anyone else ever watch it? It harkens back to the 'we're having fun and not full of ourselves' days at ESPN... My, how long ago that was.

I remember the show. Thought it was pretty good but it wasn't on very long. It was well liked by all the critics.

I watched it when it was on. I thought it was an extremely well written show that did get the credit it should have.

Because it's so much more convenient for television networks to give the thumbs-up to a mediocre show that a bunch of people kinda like (ladies and gentlemen, 'Deal or No Deal!') than an awesome show that a few people really like (see 'Arrested Development').

Yeah, whenever the critics say a show is as good or better than anything else on TV, that's usually a death knell. In other words, Eli's coming.

Critically acclaimed usually equals boring and Sports Night -- as well as just about every other Aaron Sorkin creation -- was no exception. Robert Guillaume was good but the show wasn't funny and it wasn't believable as a drama.

I'm glad Mad Men didn't end up on a regular network. It would never have made it.

I didn't watch Sports Night until they started running it on syndication on USA. It was a decent show but, at the time, I thought the Keith Olbermann character was over the top especially when they had the plotline when he was taking gratuitous shots at Doc on the air. Then Olbermann got his show on MSNBC and displayed how over the top he really was.

Yeah, I remember that episode... It was pretty hilarious in one of those 'is this really happening?' sort of things.

The show was written by Aaron Sorkin (of West Wing fame), so you really expect these things from time to time. The show wasn't perfect, I'll agree, but certainly worth a watch.

I remember watching Sports Night and I really didn't like it. It always struck me as fairly boring. But as long as we're talking about good shows that got canceled way before they should have, did anybody watch a show on ABC called Sons and Daughters? It was around the same time as Arrested Development and had the same type of humor. It shared the same fate as well, but I think it was only 1 season. I really liked that show but I personally didn't know anybody else who watched it. It also didn't last long enough to become popular and trendy postmortem like AD did.

There was this political cartoon on Spike TV called 'This Just In'. I thought it was hilarious, albeit a little risque (although nothing that you wouldn't find in a typical Family Guy -- which I hate -- episode). It lasted six episodes.

Forgive me for being a bit critical of a show about TV sportscasters that had little to do with reality. But I was not a fan of the show then or now. The writing was nowhere near as clever as some made it out to be IMHO.

I used to like the show 'Ed' with Tom Cavanaugh. It was only on for about 2 or 3 seasons.

Arrested development was the best show on tv. And about critics, its always the opposite. If they all love a movie, then it most likely is going to be garbage, but if they hate it then its probably great.
