I think she is just cashing in her chips and going the celebrity route. Rumor is that she is done with politics. She will probably get a talk show/news show and will just enjoy herself outside of politics.

Fox News might hire her. Don't know if anyone else would.

I think it's as likely that Palin will bow out of the public scene all-together (except maybe a few speaking appearances here and there) as it is that she'd run for President.

You really think that the power trip of being on the ticket didn't get her? I bet you haven't heard the last of her in the political arena.

Can we please hold off the 2012 political talk till at least 2011? I'm still drained from 2008.

Running normally starts 2 years beforehand. Well not so much actually running but getting your name out there and getting noticed. But that's 2010. We're already in the middle of 2009.

True. Many of the '08 candidates announced at the beginning of 2007 that they were officially running for President. Even before that though, the candidates needed to form 'Presidential Exploratory Committees' and such.

Here's the thing: There are so many things that can change between now and 2012 that any speculation about the Presidency is all-for-naught. At this point in 2005, it was looking like the '08 election would've pitted George Allen against Hillary Clinton. A month ago, SC Gov. Mark Sanford was on the short-list of presidential hopefuls.

If the economy continues to tank -- that'd open the door for someone like Mitt Romney. If we see a terrorist attack, it wouldn't surprise me if Rudy Giuliani gets back in the fray. And here's a long-shot... if Obama continues to flail, there's no guarantee that the Democrats will renominate him (long-shot, I know).

If I had to wager a guess...
2012 - Romney vs. Obama
2016 - President Romney vs. Al Franken
2020 - Secretary of State Jenna Bush vs. Governor Chelsea Clinton

Don't think she could win. She's not taken seriously enough. Too much of a light weight. I don't necessarily agree, but I do think she needs al ittle more experience in the national scene.
