It seems like that's always been a theory even before they went back in time. I really think that Kate is gonna die soon enough anyway. Her character is getting exceedingly stupid and worthless.

from a chat with the writers

"BE: At least two people belligerently demanded to know the whereabouts of Rose and Bernard.

DL: That is an excellent question, and in addition to “where is Vincent,” it’s probably the question that we get asked most about the show. And, “Where’s Faraday, and why aren’t any of the other characters asking about his whereabouts?”

BE: That was next on my list.

DL: I figured. (Laughs) Suffice it to say that the whereabouts of all of these characters will be addressed very specifically in the coming weeks. "

Pretty funny the explanation was simply that they were tired.

Rose and Bernard...now guaranteed to be Adam and Eve.

I don't know if I talked about this here or not, so here goes. I believe that Smokie (smoke monster) is taking on the lives of all the dead people. Therefore, he is Christian, Locke, Alex, Rousseau's crew etc.

Here is how I came up with that. The writers have always said, when a person is dead, he is dead. When Ben was in the Temple and Alex came out of Smokie and took her form to tell him to do what Locke told him what to do, I believe it was Smokie becoming Alex.

When Rousseau's crew was pulled under the Temple by Smokie, remember, when they came out, Rousseau called them out for being "different" ever since he was pulled under the Temple. I believe it was Smokie taking on their bodies.

I sincerely believe that everybody that has died, and "reappeared" on the island is actually Smokie.

Here is my crazy theory as well.

I believe that the dude that was with Jacob on the island actually somehow became Smokie. Think banished like a Genie in a bottle kind of deal.
When Locke and Ben went to Jacobs cabin last year, Ben just admitted that nothing was there, he was just trying to trick Locke into believing they were going to see Jacob. Now...we saw no people there, but we did see some crazy stuff happening, and Locke heard somebody say to him "Help Me" That could be Smokie asking for help....to get out of the "bottle" per se.

I also believe that the dude is Smokie because of the way that Jacob was talking to him in the end of the season finale. He was talking to him, just like he knew him, like he was on the beach with him. Jacob told him "You found a loophole" He was not talking to Locke, he was talking to the dude that was with him on the beach.

I also do not believe that the hydrogen bomb exploded at the end of the show. I believe it was just the electromagnetic energy "exploding" like we saw when they turned the fail safe key, and like when the numbers did not get pushed and 815 crashed.

i thought this was already common knowledge? not to be a jerk or anything.

yeah thats pretty much the obvious answer, either that or he controls the smoke monster but i'd bet on the former.

what we know about the guy in the dark shirt:

he can't himself kill jacob
he assumes humanity is corrupt and will always be

what we know about the guy in the dark shirt if he is the smoke monster:

he can only take the form of someone who is dead.
he can appear off island in those forms.
he can judge and kill people.

you can now see throughout the entire show when any person who was dead shows up it was dark shirt/smokie/evil progressing his way into finding a loophole.

more evidence of this is when he appeared to hurley, he didn't try and get him to come back. why? throughout the entire show, the only person who has done NO wrong as far as we can tell was hurley. he doesn't want him to come back....because he before the show is over will be the entire key to the ending of this game.

when fake locke told richard to tell real locke that he would have to bring them back and that he would have to die, i was like "this oesn't make any sense whatsoever why thats even necessary!"....but now it makes complete sense.

I read today that somewhere Michael Emerson (Ben) said that the bomb definitely exploded. Take that FWIW.

What about Walt's appearances? And what happened to Claire, did they just give her the year off? Was the Jacob-nemesis the one who was actually being trapped in the cabin? Is that who Locke actually saw in the cabin (which is why maybe Locke is the one he used)? Did Richard originate from the Black Rock (as Ricardo)? Where is the Russian pirate who can't seem to die? And why did the "shadow of the statue" people try to convince Miles not to go to the island, does that make Miles special or was it just to show us that these people existed? And what is Frank a candidate for?

I can't believe Ben was that stupid and acted so much on impulse, he's supposed to be the smart one. And I don't think the Jacob-nemesis and smokie are the same.

It's funny, when this show first started, everyone was trying to figure out what it meant, if it was some sort of alleghory. Then as it went on none of it made sense and people just figured it was a really good story. But with that season finale, it struck me as coming back into the alleghory mode.

I agree. Fake Locke was surprised when Ben told him that his daughter appeared to him and told him to do everything Locke tells him to do.
