this one guy in AR trys our product for 90 days...loves it....buys it the day we receive a check he starts having problems with it. the techs have been working with him for 4 or 5 days....he calls me today livid and goes "as soon i write a check it don't work1!!!"

yeah buddy we employ a guy here who starts making our product suck after you pay...its a perfect business model...

anyway, he insists its hardware....we send him new hardware....same problems....hes freaking out now at this point talking about wanting a refund...

so finally one of the tech is looking at some bandwidth reports and goes, what are these ip addresses doing?

"oh those are our discovery channel video servers, we just got them…they load these servers up with videos so teachers can show videos to students without going out to the internet to get them"

how do they get the data to the servers….

"welll they are downloaded from discovery's site for the first…..few……days……they…..are……installed……..oh……oops"

i sell a network security suite.

basically that is what he was doing....when a school or business exceeds its bandwith, requests stack up. its not that our product is doing anything necessarily wrong, it can't accelerate bandwidth.

Wireless Network Security Fail


So I was waiting for some repairman to fix something at one of my rental properties and I had my laptop and lo and behold, one of the neighbors, whose name is apparently Charles, didn't secure his wireless network (meaning anyone could hop on and use their internet). But you won't believe what he named his network.

"Charles-Secured"

Instead of actually securing his network, he just put the word "Secured" in the name. Hey Charles, just because you add an adjective or phrase to a noun doesn't actually make it come true.

In that case I could just rename Spinach to "Spinach-Tastes Like Bacon."

Nickelback would just rename their band to "Nickelback-Not The Worst Band on the Radio."

Kanye West would rename himself to "Kanye West-I Can Sing."

So, as you can see from the image above, I was somehow able to bypass the amazing wireless security. Please everyone, learn from Charles.

there are like 3 or 4 wireless signals available at my parents house....i always log into their router and change the ssid to "cut your lawn loser" or "youreplumbermakesalotofnoontimevisits"
