We haven't had a thread like this in about a year or so. Anyone get any new releases lately or been getting into some new stuff? I have an incredibly short memory, so at the moment I can only think of one band I've gotten into the last couple days:

Manchester Orchestra.
Their new album is fantastic, some of the best songwriting I've heard in a while.

Delta Spirit is also pretty good, but I haven't listened to them a whole lot.

Anyone else? I'm always looking for new stuff, what should I check out.

Manchester Orchestra played with Brand New at LC a couple years back. The lead singer started crying during one of the songs. I haven't listened to them since.

I really like most of Manchester Orchestra's songs, but for some reason some of their songs really bother me (Neighborhood is Bleeding, Golden Ticket, Colly Strings (though I like half of the song, I have trouble seeing the difference between the last 2:20 and late 90s rock)). I have listened to the new cd a couple times through on their myspace and I love I Can Feel a Hot One and several other songs, but something about some of the songs ring false and contrived to me.

Anyways, if you like MO, they I'm sure you listen to Brand New, but you might not have checked out Dear and the Headlights (especially stuff from Small Steps, Heavy Hooves). Right Away Great Captain is the lead singer from Manchester Orchestra's other band which I prefer to MO. If you are into acoustic stuff, you might check out Cassino, American Football, and Elliott Smith.

I'm going to check out Delta Spirit.

Thanks, I'm definitely into acoustic stuff, it's mostly what I listen to at work. The new M. Ward album is pretty good, Hold Time, but it's not as good as his two previous albums. And Ray LaMontagne has some great stuff.

I can't wait for the new Muse album to come out. I'm hearing very good things.

Now I remember a couple more.

I like Glasvegas' stuff. It's like a very different-sounding Scottish emo, but it's good.

Also, The Airborne Toxic Event. They have a dumb name, and bands with dumb names don't usually amount to anything, but they have some really good songs. They sould a lot like Blue October.
