We had a lady come in our church passing out flyer's yesterday about one here in Parkersburg, WV. I didn't realize that this was a nationwide deal. I thought it was just something local to Lynchburg. Interesting.

Daily Kos Founder: I Support Tea Parties If They Stop Conservatives From 'Shooting People Up'
By Tim Graham | April 9, 2009 - 09:04

Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, hallowed in the political community as a Meet the Press panelist and Newsweek contributor, displayed his satirical side on Wednesday on his leftist blog the Daily Kos:

Dear Conservatives,

If having hilarious tea bagging parties keeps you guys from shooting people up, then I heartily endorse them.

Hugs and kisses,

kos

Please compare this to the outrage liberals had over fellow Newsweek contributor Karl Rove when he cracked in 2005 that liberals saw 9/11 as an occasion for indictments and therapy. Newsweek's Washington Bureau Chief, Daniel Klaidman, complained at the time that Rove was trying to create "the sort of Republican fantasy of a liberal." Mr. Klaidman, any complaint now?

This tea party thing kind of irks me for the following reason:

The Boston Tea Party was about taxation without representation...These tea parties are about just plain old taxes. I hate historical misrepresentations. Americans are bad enough at US history as it is and we don't need any help getting worse. Protest all you want, but at least don't skew history. These tea parties are more like nonviolent whiskey rebellions. And that is an even cooler name.

Plus, no one will remember that the whiskey rebellion was quelled by President Washington because most are horrible at US history.
