This is the kind of kids' movie the industry seems to have largely overlooked since the '80s (with few exceptions, including the new Narnia films). I'm looking forward to this.

It's more of a reboot, really.

I really wish they hadn't done that. This looks like a slightly better version of 'Shark Girl and Lava Boy'.

Just noticed that the director is Spike Jonez, the same guy who did 'Being John Malkovic' and 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'. I predict that this movie will make no sense and tick me off.

Shark Girl and Lava Boy was only slightly less than completely awesome?

I showed the trailer to my wife and she had the same reaction. This looks like a movie for adults based on a children's book. In other words, both adults and children will be disappointed.

Sounds like Coraline without the nightmares for my kids but without much entertainment.

I don't know guys. From that trailer, that looks like it's gonna be great. I think they used a lot of muppet-like costumes instead of CGI which I have been harping on for years (CGI hasn't been realistic looking since Jurassic Park and even they used a combination of CGI and robots.) The only thing that could be stupid is the story. Because the book is about 10 sentences and doesn't really have much of a story. I think this would be a hard one for anyone to screw up.
