Warning: This is going to be me complaining about random crap. If you don't want to hear about it, leave now. If you're bored, keep reading.

I have had the worst luck in the world this summer. Let's start on the first day of summer vacation. I left Lynchburg to go to Roanoke to take my real estate appraisal test. I got bad directions and drove around downtown Roanoke for an hour, was late for the test, and failed by 8 questions (110 question test).

Two days later, I meet my baseball coach at his house and we go scout a baseball game 3 hours away (it was who we were playing first round of the playoffs). I get back from the game, it's around 12:30am, and I can't get my car to move whatsoever. I left my car there that night and came back the next day and come to find out, my transmission went out. I had to completely replace it. It took two weeks to do that and I was forced to either get rides or drive my little sister's car (a 98 Ford Escort...picture me in that).

The next week, as I'm announcing our first playoff game (first home playoff game ever in baseball), one of the speakers blows in the last inning during a rally.

Two weeks later, after studying my butt off, I go to retake my appraisal test in Roanoke (two hour drive from home) and fail by 5 questions.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, things seem to be going good. Two nights before I'm supposed to go to Lynchburg to do some SFC recruiting, our power goes off, and when it comes back on, my computer won't work. I decide I can't go to Lynchburg to do the recruiting because I have to buy the new parts for the computer, only to have it miraculously start working the day after I was supposed to be in Lynchburg.

Fast forward again to last night. I'm on my way home from Lynchburg for the last time of the summer to get the rest of my stuff and move back in full time in Lynchburg. When I get to King I come to a stoplight and hear a rattle or something coming from under my hood. We looked at in when I got home but it was 11:30 and we couldn't figure anything out. After looking at it today, we decided it was the water pump. We were almost finished fixing it tonight and then we noticed something else was screwed up. We can't get the parts for that until Monday at the earliest and then have to put it on. Everyone in college knows what it's like when all your friends from school are back in town and you're stuck at home.

Yea, that was just me venting. I'm not the happiest person in the world right now.

sounds like your summer was very eventful. I know the feeling about the transmission because back in December '05 i just got off work to catch whats left of a basketball game at LU and it was a cold evening and cant get my old car (have another car now) to go in reverse after the game. So I have to wait for a tow truck for about an hour in the cold weather but thankfully it was in the Demoss parking lot so I could at least go inside to get warm. So that was an eventful evening.

For future reference, there is a universal fix for all electronic equipment. I work w/ electronic equipment all day spread out over 4 buildings and whenever there is a power "event" around campus, invariably some of that equipment goes screwy.

The solution is: unplug it, wait 1-5 minutes, plug it back in. I am not making this up. This solution solves the problem 95% of the time.

It's ridiculously simple and I'm not really sure why it works but it does.

I had tried that with my computer. It ended up being that but on a big scale. I unpluigged it for two days and then it was fixed.

I will second this as a primary solution. We just rolled out a huge new CRS and marketing program. I started my puter first thing (7 am) and couldn't log on b/c it didn't recognize my password. So I grabbed the paper forms (which NEVER seem to crash) and headed up to my first call. Two hours later BINGO I was ready to go.
