I talked to a professor friend of mine yesterday who said his family has Christmas brunch at Waffle House every year. And for years, we used to go the the Peaks of Otter for their dinner buffet on Christmas.

Do you and your family have any special Christmas or New Year's traditions?

Our family has a regifter party where we take the 5 worst gifts/past regifts and wrap them up. Then we pick numbers and chances are you get something you gave to somebody last year.

Tradition number one is that regardless of circumstances, my immediate family gathers from across the country to be together for Christmas eve and Christmas day. In over a half century, the only 2 exceptions were when me and my sister were in ministry teams while students at LU, and were overseas on mission campaigns during Christmas break.

Tradition number two is the reading of the story of Jesus' birth from Luke and Matthew (KJV) prior to opening gifts. My dad did this til he passed away 15 years ago. Since then it has been me.

1. Dad's family get together for dinner
2. Grandparents come by everyones house to see what the kids got
3. Brunch with the kids
4. Mom's side of the family comes up for Christmas dinner on Christmas day

That's about it...but it's stressful and hectic and to be honest I'm glad when the holiday's are over!

on Dec. 23 we have a massive family Christmas party at our house with over 100+ family members and a few friends, needless to say it's complete madness, but we all have a good time

My dad and I used to go to Wafflehouse about 10:30 at night on Christmas Eve. Since he died last year, my wife and I went this year. Didn't get to see any good fights as usual, but one lady raised her voice at another waitress. They're always ill that they have to work Christmas Eve night.

How'd I get included here 😳
