I'm sure many have seen his picture that is now at a iconic level but I wanted to know if anyone is really familiar with this guy. I've read everything I could on the internet about him. Some say he's a terrorist and then some say he stood for freedom. I was just hoping to get some unbiased opinions from people who remember when this was actually happening.

The guy from the CIA who finally caught him was Félix Rodríguez and he's had ties with George H. Bush back when he was a VP that whole situation seems to be pretty interesting also.

Anyways just wondering your take on Che, Felix and the whole Iran Contra in general...just trying to figure out if he was a true terrorist or stood for good things but just got off path at times.

*for the record I'm done with school and this is not my cheap way of getting out of a book report! I know this thread is boring and its really aimed a few who actually think this stuff is interesting....it's lame, I Know

Did you watch "The Motorcycle Diaries"? That's about his life prior to his socialist/terrorist career. It is an entertaining place to start.

As for Iran/Contra, that I do remember much better. I was at school when Ollie spoke and we had the Contra propaganda specialists on campus.

I need to watch that...I've only just become aware of Che within the last 2 days....I'll start with that then watch CHE which Benicio Del Toro won an award for playing Che.

As far as the Iran Contra, this is what I dont get (taken from Wiki)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Félix_Rodr ... _H.W._Bush

There is extensive documentation of Rodriguez' ties to George Bush during the Iran-Contra Affair, from 1983-1988.[9] In September 1986 General John K. Singlaub wrote Oliver North expressing concern about Felix Rodriguez's daily contact with the Bush office and warned of damage to President Reagan and the Republican Party. The Walsh Report (Chapter 25) states that M. Charles Hill took notes at a meeting between George Shultz and Elliott Abrams on 16 October 1986, as follows:

"Felix Rodrigues [sic] – Bush did know him from CIA days. FR [Rodriguez] is ex-CIA. In El Salv[ador] he goes around to bars saying he is buddy of Bush. A y[ea]r ago Pdx [Poindexter] & Ollie [North] told VP staff stop protecting FR as a friend – we want to get rid of him from his involvnt [sic] w[ith] private ops. Nothing was done so he still is there shooting his mouth off."[10]
(brackets are in the original)

Felix is who finally captured Che....why was it so bad for him to be talking to Bush? I'm not sure anyone would know such a petty question, but I have wondered that, I would have though Felix would be looked at as a hero if Che was so bad.

He's a trendy symbol of socialism but most people have no idea who he is.

Also, I would expect to see this caption under his picture.

b/c that's what our young inquisitive minds are trying to figure out, if he is indeed a slime-bag!

I've heard/read both....slime-bag terrorist and revolutionary hero so I wanted the opinions of those who lived through some of his battles

This is a pretty interesting article about the Clinton's and a drug cover up and it ties in with Che....I've always read that the Clintons made their money in drugs....our friend Ollie is in this as well....
http://www.ncoic.com/clinton.htm

Here's the part about Che...
In late 1985, Reed received a phone call from an Air America buddy, William Cooper, a pilot working with Southern Air Transport, another CIA front company. Cooper also was working with soon to be murdered drug kingpin Barry Seal at the same time he was flying re-supply missions for the Contras. In 1986, he was shot down and killed over Nicaragua along with co-pilot Wallace Sawyer. The plane's cargo-kicker, Eugene Hasenfus, parachuted into the arms of waiting Sandinista soldiers. Video images of his capture spanned the world and forced an airing of a tiny part of US covert operations.

Sandinistas who recovered the downed cargo plane searched Cooper's pockets and found phone numbers linking the re-supply operation with Felix Rodriguez, an associate of George Bush, best known for murdering Che Guevara after his capture in Bolivia. To this day, Rodriguez, who works for the CIA, wears Che's watch as a trophy.

Question: Why is there so much drug talk during the time of the Iran Contra? It seems as if everyone had their hands in it and even the CIA developed fake businesses in order to smuggle drugs in during this time and some how using the Iran Contra. Ollie North was also linked with this...along with the Clintons

When I hear his name it makes my heart rate pick up. He was a cold-blooded murderer. He was gutless. He was void of a single redeeming quality. Today, millions of people live in bondage because of the atrocities committed by this coward.

Motorcycle Diaries is not worth your time. It was an attempt to package an evil person in a favorable light that could be accepted by a non-discerning mind.

I think I'm going to :vomit

What he said. Guevara is a favorite of the white-bread suburbanite kids who listen to 'Rage Against the Machine' and think they're fighting The Man by getting an anarchy symbol tattooed on their ankle yet have no idea who this b****** was or what he did.

I must be...but I'd venture to say the other posters on here between the ages of 18-24 are not as well, sure most of us have seen his face but have NO IDEA of what he stood for

For the record, Motorcycle Diaries was a good film. It had nothing to do with his activism or politics.

But he was certainly everything portrayed in this thread.
