I can't believe I haven't heard anybody jump on McCain for playing the autism/special needs card last night. He mentioned multiple times that Sarah Palin knows more about autism than most. Her kid has Down's Syndrome which in not even remotely close to autism. My wife, a special education teacher who works with autistic children, cringed every time it was mentioned. This was a huge error and he wasn't called out on it. Yes, Palin has a nephew with autism, but that didn't seem to be what he was alluding to last night.

Nobody's jumped on it because it completely isn't an issue. I don't even know why he keeps talking about it.

Will this trend change this year or will it stay the same? if it stays the same, which in previous years it has despite tons of efforts to get the youth out to vote, then it's going to be a heck of a lot more difficult for Obama to win the race.

your a friggin idiot shuk. go back into your hole.

Uh, Palin has talked about being an advocate for families of children with special needs. Autism falls into that category. I think you're reaching, adam. And McCain is mentioning the autism side of special needs because, honestly, most people don't care about downs' syndrome, but autism is a hot button and a growing problem.

By the way...

...it's funny that 'Joe the Plumber' knows more about what makes America great and how America works than half of our presidential candidates.

its all crap. i'd love to find a website and go back and look at the promises polititians have made to get elected and how many of those promises they came through on.

mccain needed to concentrate on the disasters of a democratic run congress and how more horrible it would be the a dem congress AND dem president. but he didn't. he addressed other issues but i knew obama would pull the "speak eloquently but say nothing" approach and the undecideds and far left would go bananas about how much better and poised he seemed than mccain. mccain came accross later on in the debate as desperate. i wanted to try and make it seem like he was firey and on the attack which was good but too late, but given the campaign up until this point, it just seems liek the last swipe from a scared kitten in a corner.

obama is retarded...he should of driven the palin thing into the ground.

I know some of you have some irrational or unfounded dislike for Palin, but like her or not, the Dems are scared of her. Aren't you curious why the media is attacking her more than McCain, and why they're absolutely locked in on trying to convince the world that she's stupid and inexperienced?

http://www.redstate.com/diaries/david_r ... ter-for-o/

He asked my boss what she thought about Sarah Palin. While my boss is a republican she hasn't been nearly as enamored with her as most of our base. She noted concern about Sarah's experience, but said that she is still voting for McCain.

As she was explaining her perspective it dawned on her to ask why he (the Obama internal pollster) was interested in her view of Palin. He replied that Obama's campaign is extremely nervous about the energized republican base and what he called the "unkown factor" regarding Palin's draw as a candidate.

In the polls they're conducting around the country, and my boss wasn't able to relay specific numbers, the Obama campaign is very, very worried about how Palin appears to be energizing whole groups of people who don't typically get energized about politics, precisely because she appeals so strongly to the middle class, as well as women and dissatisfied republicans that stayed home in 2006.

palin could be a genius for all i know.....but she doesn't look the part or play the part. and from what i've heard of her i'm not buying it.

this was a good move on the repub side, for the most part, but it ain't working now that we've gotten to see and hear plenty of her. i like her but not "running the country" like her.

i've vote for her before i voted for joe, john, or barry, but that isn't saying much.

"W" was stupid even though his grades were better than Kerry's at Yale and Reagan was a stooge who could only say lines like any other actor. Its the same story line. Palin did not help herself in the Couric interview but both Barry and Biden have given some umdinger answers that were quickly sweeped away. Polls show she did well at the convention and in the debate. In 4-8 years, with some national seasoning, I think she will be a great candidate. She really reaches across the traditional conservative lines which has the libs in panic mode about the future.
