I got my Jeep hood stripped and painted 2 years ago for only $250. Went to Vito who has a body shop on 460 East, the same guy who used to have the body shop beside Sonic. If you are local, Vito does great work for a fair price.

This should fall under your comprehensive coverage which usually has a less deductible than collision. Comp covg usually doesn't raise your premiums either.

No way...way to intense for a happy wife....has to be a neighbors whore daughter

but seriously...this is good work...

Can I ask a question to everyone other than Alum? Did anyone else laugh when they saw the pictures? I mean it's really not funny but for whatever reason I really did laugh...I think one day he'll laugh about this too...just not anytime soon after these payments

I laughed pretty hard...kinda like when you drafted Travis Henry in the fantasy draft today.... What was that song  ... I'll be gone til November

At least you can blame someone else for the damage to the car, I made the unfortunate error of backing into my wife's SUV, which laughed at my accord and and put a nice gash and dent into my bumper, and didn't even scratch hers.

There is a Maaco in Durhum, NC that will do an entire car for $315. I saw some cars out in the parking lot and they looked pretty good.

You could buy some Deglosser and a magic eraser...wet the magic erasor with the deglosser, and you'll be able to take off some of the paint, it might take the scratches out (it'll eat through your clearcoat, though). I was actually able to buff rust stains off of an old '92 Plymouth van b/c the paint was so thick. Otherwise, you can get some touch-up paint for $5 and try to fix the scratches.

Currently, I'm doing the "$50 internet paint job" - repainting my '96 Dodge Neon with a high density foam roller using Professional Rustoleum from Lowes mixed with about 20 percent Mineral Spirits...

I'm doing one panel at a time...first wiping the section with deglosser...then rolling on the thin mixture of paint - it's seems to be working pretty good.

here's a link to others that have done the $50 paint job - http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/sho ... art=1&vc=1

As far as insurance, this would be a comprehensive claim - but most people have a $500 deductible for that. (Not all, you can have ACV, $100, $250, $500, $1000, etc).

If this would have happened in a parking lot, and you didn't know who did it, it would be paid under "uninsured motorist" coverage, which is usually only a $250 deductible - or half of the comprehensive amount. Normally they would do that, and then if they found out who did it, they would subrogate against that person for the money, but they really can't subrogate against your own daughter.

I've had 2 cars painted by Maaco. You definitely get what you pay for, but if it's an older car and you just want a cheap paint job, I'd do it again, especially during the winter when they run those half off sales on paint jobs.

My rollerjob is comming out pretty good.

I have a lot of orange peel to sand off, but it looks good from 5 feet away already.

The fumes from the mineral spirits are getting to me, though...

I'll try and post pics when I'm done.
