John McCain is hosting several officials considered to be potential running mates at his Arizona retreat over the Memorial Day weekend — but his campaign insists the gathering is just a social affair.

The presumptive GOP presidential nominee plans to host two-dozen guests, including Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
The consensus top three from those who are following McCain's campaign are listed above. Jindal is widely considered to be a rising star in the conservative world and I don't know much about Charlie Crist and I will withhold judgment with his decision to interview Romney.

Since this is a big choice for McCain and whomever he selects as VP (which will probably send them on the fast track to the nomination in 2012, assuming McCain only serves one term if he wins), I thought it deserved a good look.

Discuss.
