I realize some of you may not think much of Rush Limbaugh but he does have a huge following among conservatives. Today or yesterday on his show he said if McCain or Huckabee gets the nomination it will destroy the Republican Party and many voters will stay home. More information on his discussion can be found on his website.

My thought is that, yes, people probably will stay home, but the same thing will happen if Mitt Romney or Rudy gets the nomination. The perfect candidate is Fred Thompson, but right now he has no support and is a long shot.

Republicans are divided and will be screwed in the National Election if someone doesn't bring the party together (The Fiscals and Socials) I would hate to have to vote for Romney or Rudy but if it came down to it, I could probably vote for Romney. Rudy, I am not sure I could vote for. It doesn't look like Rudy will get the nomination anyway so that point is probably moot.

His conversation with Newt was awesome. Two conservative heavyweights going at it a little. I just wish they had more time to talk through everything.

I don't listen to Rush that much, or Hannity anymore really, because I feel like they're Republicans first, conservative second. If Rudy won the nomination, the only reason I would vote for him would to keep Clinton/O'Bama out... the lesser of two evils.

I've listened to Huck alot lately and he is a very moral sounding man. His social politics seam very conservative. Is it his fiscal politics that people like Rush don't like? Someone explain, please.

Yes. Rush thinks he is bad on Taxes. Basically, he is a fiscal Democrat.

Maybe Hannity, but Rush....no way. The last two weeks all he has talked about is conservativism and how Republicans are destroying true conservatism. It sounds to me like Rush and Hannity are more concerened about fiscal conservatism than social conservatism and thats currentl what is dividing the party. Rush absolutely hates Huckabee and McCain because they are not as fiscally conservative as some of the other candidates.

If Rush could pick one of the cadidates it would be Fred Thompson. Second would be Mitt Romney.

As for me, social issues trump fiscal issues. Rudy's stance on abortion, Mitt's tendencies to stretch the truth and flip flop have me concerned. I would vote for Fred Thompson though.

He hasn't said he is backing anyone but he has said, the most conservative candidate in the top tier is Fred Thompson. I can tell he also likes Romney.
