The roads were fine by 9:30. I left at 9:40 and made it to NC by 12.

So...I guess you don't have to drive back for 6 PM tonight, then.

Super, it took you from 9:40 until noon to get from Campbell Ave. to North Campus?

Too many for me to count...I will readily admit that I have the coordination of a brick wall so these stories are fairly common and I have no problem laughing at myself about it

No. Some of us waited around for our professor to get there and took the exam then. Everyone else can take it at home and turn it in on Monday.

Couldn't you tell it was icy when you walked out to you car? Being suprised is one thing...driving too fast when you know there is ice is another.

I would not have known had I not had a wood ramp up to my door. I was out early enough before it got REAL bad. So...to give you a straight answer....NO.

True...I still have no trouble admitting to being fairly clumsy.

Yet for some reason...I feel much safer sliding around on ice as opposed to be over there.

Sly...are you in Dubai right now? For some reason, I'd feel safer in Dubai than with Southerners in cars on icy roads.

hahaha especially the Lynchburg drivers, speaking of which, for those that have lived in Lynchburg for awhile, honestly why is there so many wrecks when this happens. Are they not used to salting the roads as you would say compares to a city farther north that has fewer accidents. I remember this being an issue when I was there.

We already went over this earlier in the thread. Normally there's a small increase in accidents because (quite obviously) it's not something that happens often here. Maybe once or twice a year. So, inevitably, someone who's not used to the white stuff will have an accident. No big deal.

This time around it was ice/freezing rain that happened during the early morning hours when no one was expecting it. People went about their normal routine. That resulted in a lot of accidents. VDOT was out putting salt out as soon as they could, but they were already behind.

For the record, I am a two hour drive away from Dubai in the capital city of Abu Dabi.

And it feels safer here than most American cities. Although I admit the drivers are nuts over here. I wouldn't dare rent a car ... I take cabs everywhere that I don't walk.
