Rocketfan mentioned it in another thread. Tell us how it is. I'm chomping at the bit to get it, but I need a pretty good reason to spend that much money and get yelled at by wifey.

Ive played about 4 hours id say so far. Graphics are impressive and gameplay is smooth. Backgrounds have incredible detail as well, but im chomping at the bit to get good and playonline! If you have any old games that you no longer play go trade them in and knock 10-20 dollars off the price so you can justify it. I read 1.5 million people logged online to play the first 2 days or something so the competition and venues are there for some good game play.

I also like the video feature ( i haven't messed with it yet ) you can basically play back an entire death match game.....pull clips of amazing kills and post them online for all to view. I read lost of reviews and i saw nothing below 4 starts out of 5, and id tend to agree with that rating or slightly better.

There's been much talk around my office about this game this week. (Imagine that. Geeks flipping out about Halo 3.)

Another reason I'm considering the HDTV plunge all of a sudden. Xbox 360.

Did you see the preview for it on G4 during that video game convention thingy? It's basically an accurate map of the entire city of Jerusalem during the dark ages and you can go anywhere in the city. No limits. That's definatly on my Christmas list.

Heck yeah. It's Jerusalem, Damascus, & Acre. They have spent 4 years on this game. The detail the went into to make it historically accurate is crazy. The complete interaction with people, objects, & buildings plus a vast amount of side missions makes this game "Da Bomb".

Interaction doesn't mean a whole lot if the game isn't fun to play, it just makes it easier to waste time. I want to see how the game actually plays out. Interaction with the environment is just an extra add-on, but really hasn't been all that crucial for games up to date. Now if they make that stuff actually helpful or even crucial to game-play, then it could be really awesome.

Indeed. Here is an actual gameplay demonstration.

When was the last time you bought something JUST for you?
When was the last time she bought something JUST for her?

If you two are anything like my wife and I, I use that for my excuse. I go a couple months without buying some form of entertainment just for me, while she does so about every week. That helps me rationalize when I buy a video game every 2-3 months.

That looks pretty amazing. I loved the crowd at the end telling him to jump. The fact that he landed in a cart full of hay topped it off. Thanks for sharing that.

I think it's really easy to hate Halo, especially if you've played through the campaign mode before. After all, every geek on the planet declared it to be the "greatest game in the history of the planet" when if first came out, "flawless" and such. But seriously, the level design is ATROCIOUS in parts of the original Halo. There are so many corridors that look exactly alike, to the point where you want to blow your brains out after blowing the brains out of the Covenant.

(Anyone playing through the library level in the original Halo knows exactly what I'm talking about.)

That being said, I've heard that problem has been largely fixed in Halo 3. Outside of that, you're looking at a great game -- the graphics and landscaping are on par with Gears of War (except much, much more vibrant), the soundtrack is amazing, and the fact that you can whoop up on your buddy online is unparalleled.

I've played other co-op and hunt 'em down games online, and Halo is the king (unless you're playing Battlefield with a large group of buddies who know what they're doing). I still remember an epic game I had with one of my friends in Halo 2 two years ago. It went on for 90 minutes...

You nailed it right there. I gave up on Halo 1 after two days and sold it on Ebay for just that reason.

Online play is nasty...this game is so complex compared to the previous versions...a lot more you can do as far as sniping on ledges, etc

I have a few friends that are pro, yet I never really have gotten into like they have...I'm still a Rainbow Six kinda guy and the new Call of Duty

But yes, it's worth the money...it'll keep your attention for a very long time

and yes, HD and surround sound will really blow your hair back

halo is good really only for its online play....as a standalone campaign game, its bad and boring....having played through the first 2 and i'm 1/2 way through the 3rd...its really not that fun...yet i stil play it

I'm also more of a Ghost Recon guy. Not sure why, I just think it blows halo3 out of the water. I love you.

Ghost Recon was the first game I ever played on a 360... just going from the graphics on a PS2 to a 360 completely blew my mind...

By the way, RocketFan, COD 4 is SWEET!
