This seems like it would also offer an opportunity for the University to "build" and create an inhouse 3D version for the LU site of what they plan/wish the grandiose vision of the campus to looklike (could also be cool to "sweep" through it and be able to pledge donations for a particular campus improvement addition...also offers Joe LU supporter who is bored a chance to 3D model what they would like to see it look like.

From the http://www.Libertyu.com & Google Earth site:

How would your campus look in 3D?

Google posed the question in January and 364 teams responded by using Google’s free 3D rendering software, SketchUp, to recreate their college campuses. Over 4,000 3D buildings were submitted to Google from universities all over the US and Canada. A small team of students and staff from Liberty’s Residential Recruiting Department recreated the Liberty campus using SketchUp and Google Earth. Well over a thousand reference photographs, as well as building blueprints, were used to accurately recreate Liberty’s campus. The project began in April and before the June 1st deadline, the entire campus had been rendered in 3D. All of the buildings were then placed on to the virtual campus using Google Earth.

How would your campus look in 3D?You showed us.

The competition has ended. Congratulations to the following 7 teams who are the winners of the Build Your Campus in 3D Competition! We'll see you in Mountain View!

Check out the winning schools' entries! To see the models:

Click here to open the Winning Schools network link in Google Earth.
Turn on the 3D Buildings layer (it's in the Layers list, in the lower-left corner of your screen).
Double-click on each school's name (in the Winning Schools folder on the left side of your screen) to fly to that school's campus. Wait a couple of minutes for each campus' buildings to load; the winners produced an awful lot of terrific data.
