CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Radford’s Sarah Himan has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels softball Player of the Week, while Terra Lowe of Liberty was tabbed New Balance Pitcher of the Week for games played March 12-18, the League announced today.

Himan, a freshman from Woodbridge, Va., batted .455 in seven games to lead the Highlanders to a 5-2 record on the week. She posted 10 hits, two doubles, a home run and seven RBI in the seven-game span, as well as being named to the Catamount Classic All-Tournament Team. In the tournament, she posted two game-winning singles to propel Radford to the championship game of the tournament where the Highlanders finished runner up. She finished the week with a .682 slugging percentage to go along with a .556 on-base percentage.

Lowe, a senior from Chesapeake, Va., posted a stellar week as she went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA against No. 23 Hawaii and No. 10 Baylor. She pitched 2.0 innings and recorded two strikeouts to pick up the win over the Rainbow Wahine on March 14. She followed that performance with three strikeouts in 2.1 innings of relief to pick up the save against Nevada the next day. On March 16, she closed her week out with seven strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work, as she shutout the No. 10 Baylor Bears. For the week, Lowe threw 11.0 shutout innings with 12 strikeouts while scattering nine hits.


Also nominated for softball Player of the Week for Week 5: Lindsay Creighton (Birmingham-Southern), Jill Shondel (Charleston Southern), Jessica Moore (Liberty) and Jenny Scrymgeour (Winthrop).

Also nominated for softball Pitcher of the Week for Week 5: Bethney Reynoldson (Birmingham-Southern) and Izzy Trottier (Winthrop).
