Current record is 5-3 with losses to Florida State, UCF and Notre Dame. Four hitters with hefty averages but their 2 top pitchers are each giving up more than a hit an inning.

I’m not a softball guy but can anyone explain why Dot sticks with Craine, who can’t hit?

Bats took the game off - only 3 hits - lose 5-3 for first loss of season.

Alyssa Henault needs to play 3rd. She's a .321 lifetime hitter. ASUN Conference player of the year.

It is time that Crain will sit the bench and allow other players to help beef up the team. In this game of baseball and softball, there is this auro that every coach has a favorite player or two. It does matter how bad they play. They can strike out twice in a game or make errors, the coach is blinded for that player. That player could do no wrong. I’ve seen this many times during my playing days. We can only hope that Coach Dot will open her eyes and make the right decisions. It we shall see.

In Craine’s defense, she plays good consistent defense. She has not been hitting since two years ago. She did not hit well all last year and it just continues this year. This leads me to believe that Coach Dot really likes her and she one of her favorite players. Maybe she is a hard worker during practice and always send a great impression to the coaches. However, she is not producing in offense and it hurts the team. The team is having a great season so far but they can do better. I’m d like to see the team get in the top 15 rank this year. They may have a chance to host a regional if they keep getting better.

I trust Dot but I don’t know how you can sit a conference player of the year on the bench. In her 6 plate appearances she got 4 hits while Craine still only has 1 in 25 appearances. Dot eventually has to make a move.

We hear you on the problem, but what’s your solution? Others have said Henault. Is that who you want to see replace Craine?

All I’m saying is that Coach Dot or any other coaches in similar situations should give other players an opportunity to play and show if other players can help elevate the team. A coach can’t be stubborn about something like this and do what’s best or can help improve the team. I’m not sure if it’s a solution to the problem but give other players a chance since Craine is 1 for 25 with her offense. 1 for 25 is very ridiculous. She is not competing offensively at this level right now.

Yes, Henault should play more but she might not have the 3B ability. Byrum, the other SS is a pretty good hitter. Whatley and Byrum may have to switch SS and 3B from time to time. These three are good decent hitters so far. But, 1 for 25 is very ridiculous. Craine has been given more opportunities than any players in this team considering her lack of production.
