According to sources, we have added 2 infielders from the portal, a shortstop from Oregon State and a second baseman from Campbell who was conference POY. Also there's a strong rumor that we're getting a pitcher.

For the integrity of college athletics LU should denounce all Portal transfers

It seems she started 44 games - .167 BA 0 HRs and 4 RBIs. Hitting below the Mendoza line. Must be a terrific defender.

My scouting report on her indicates she's a "gold glove" shortstop, with a good arm. Hopefully with some adjustments to her plate approach, and some tweaking of her swing, she can be a productive hitter.

Our hitting needs to improve in 2025. This past season we finished 193rd in the nation in batting average. Too many hitters had bad seasons at the plate. Thankfully we had 4 hitters who started hitting once post season arrived. Hopefully they will build on their post season in 2025. We need someone in the 3 or 4 spot to have a monster year RBI wise.

I knew she was visiting campus last week.

This SS better find a very good private hitting coach to work before coming to LU because she will not get good hitting coaching at LU unless Coach Dot found a new hitting coach. The hitting approaches this past season were terrible.

I looked into this player from Campbell a second baseman who was POY for CAA. She batted like .300 something w/o a HR. I watched some of her highlights. She is a typical slap hitter with no power. She made 14 errors at second base with a .922 fielding %, I believe. This is average. A good INF should have at least .950 fielding %. This player is okay at best. The OF, Doerr from OSU is the better transfer player than any of them.

Doerr hit .235 1 HR and 6 RBIs.

I'd like to see a big bat added to roster, .(300+ BA, 15-20 HR, 50-60 RBI). We lost 12-14 games last season because we didn't hit, especially with runners on base, and many of those were in scoring position. With all our pitching returning, if we have a big improvement at the plate, we should have one of our best seasons ever. The schedule will not be as strong this season, but we've got to win those big games in February and those mid-week ACC games.

Hailey Deter has signed with Utah. She was named Defensive Player of the Year in the Florida Gulf Coast Summer League this week.

The softball team is very crowded with all those recruits from incoming freshmen and transfer portal.

According to my numbers we have 31 players. (7 pitchers)

I hope some of our freshman coming have power and can hit. Because I am underwhelmed as far as what we got with offense in the portal. Solid players, maybe good fielders, but I don't see the power.

According to information I received, 1 of our most promising incoming recruits torn ACL a couple weeks ago.

It’s too bad. She will more likely red shirt her freshman year.

Probably so, but it is much more realistic for a Spring sport athlete to play after a summer ACL than other sports. It would depend on how her rehab goes and then whether she is good enough to actually make an impact if she plays.

I do not disagree with what you stated. However, generally, if you do not play in the fall to show your value, you will not play in the spring. Unless she is some kind of a high rated recruit who could have gone to Oklahoma but chose LU.
