Sounds like the softball coaches have been COACHED UP.

Regardless of what happens the remainder of season, this is the best Liberty team in history.(yes, in all sports) This team proved it pays to schedule big. Many teams around the country, played no ranked teams in nonconference play, including some who are highly ranked. Not many teams have the courage to step out of conference and play Alabama. LSU, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee.

Best team in any sport is certianly arguable. This is a great day for our softball program. There is no need to ruin it with hyperbole.

We have had plenty of other programs higher in the rankings.

This is a great accomplishment. By making such hyperbolic statements, you just take away from their accomplishment.

If my count is correct, we played 11 games against ranked teams this year. We went 2-9. Not exactly stellar, and the 2 wins came against the 2 lowest ranked of the top 25 teams we played. We got close in a few games with the real powerhouses, but it's softball, not horseshoes or hand grenades. Came up just short of making it through the gauntlet without getting run-ruled before the Sooners clobbered us.

You need to do a bit more studying before making your pronouncements. Our 2012 golf team finished 10th at the national finals. Our current golf team is ranked 16th. They go up against other nationally ranked teams in every tournament they compete in, and beat a lot of them.

If this team makes the WCWS and wins a game or 2 you will have an argument.

HCHF called. His LU football team finished 17th in the country last year. Can softball top that?

Even LU's Quiz Bowl team, "the varsity sport of the mind," finished 14th in the country in 2015, beating Michigan, Ohio State, and South Carolina at Nationals.

Field hockey ranked 5th in the country

Like a month ago.

This year's field hockey team is a perfect example of why phrases like "no matter what happens from here on out" should be avoided. Ranked as high as 5th and did not make the tournament. (Probably should have, but did not).

Ballcoach does what every bad sports radio talk show host does. Throws out a hot take and just sticks with it, even if it is proven false.

On the plus side, he finally has some chatter in the softball sub forum!

He knows what he’s doing. He gets your attention and gets you guys talking.

How many total field hockey teams are there? I would suspect their are a ton more softball schools than field hockey. I think if you said best womens team in LU history that could be true. However, from a mens perspective its golf for sure.

The next 3 weeks are going to be huge.

Yeah, we still have a long ways to go. His comment may end up being correct but at this point it is just too early to make that call.
