LAUREL, DEL. - Cassidy Taylor, of Laurel, a Sussex Tech sophomore and pitcher for the Virginia Stars 18U and the Laurel Senior Little League All-Star teams, has verbally committed to Liberty University.

In July, Taylor's pitching coach, Bill Dryden, arranged for her to participate in the Team New Jersey College Recruiting Camp and to pitch in the TNJ Summer Classic Showcase with the Virginia Stars. Dryden asked several college officials to take a look, including Dryden's long-time friend Liberty University (Va., D-I) coach Paul Wetmore. Liberty plays in the Big South Conference.

"Paul sent me a text telling me she was the 'real deal' and he wanted her at Liberty," Dryden said. "I arranged for her to do an unofficial visit the weekend after the World Series in Roxana. Her family went and toured the University and then met with Coach Wetmore."
