The guys aren't the only ones swinging bats in the spring. You can follow the squad throughout the season and even get the latest on recruiting.

Question? I don't have a lot of knowledge about the LU protocol ( you can't hear the chatter in the CheapSeats ) but doesn't the new coach get to pick their own staff? Do they have to keep the current staff? If the program needs to rebuild isn't it reasonable to let someone start from scratch?

8). Just trying to learn.

Generally yes. However, and this has been done at LU and other schools, the school will say you have to keep a specific person on staff. This can be done for a variety of reasons. Some coaches will keep someone from the former staff to help with transition. IMO, that's a good thing to do for the next coach at LU. Navigating the LU System takes a seasoned hand :D

Thanks Ph...

I have been watching the regionals and conference tournaments on TV. There has to be some one out there. The LU system.... Some people would argue that it's chaos at times but, I am way up here out of the way so it looks organized

It will be interesting to see what level of commitment LU administration places on the softball team. IE; playing venue, future coach, and desire to recruit aggressively. Time to step up?

I was wondering if you had noticed that. Am I correct that that location is the current LCA softball field? It sounds like it will be getting renovations & additions.

I am hearing that a clear #1 candidate has been identified and if it comes to fruition it will be a headline-grabbing hire. And no, it is not Jenny Finch. But it will be a huge hire in the softball community.

No but the baseball posters might! I don't believe I've ever advocated for firing a coach, but if it would get her here....... :D

Unless new coach is a pitching guru, a good pitching coach will need to be brought on board.
There WAY more to it than that, especially at Liberty, and especially because its softball.

Any chance they could be talking to Dr Dot Richardson? I know she is a believer. She does a lot of work with FCA and was recently broadcasting an event and was not shy about her faith... She is a big name, Liberty is getting medical, nursing and other programs going that she would be an asset for. I sit up here it the CheapSeats but I would be first in line for a season ticket if she is on the field.

Good call. We'd have to pony up some serious cash to get her to leave her Orthopedic Directorship.

Well count me as a fan, loved seeing her in the Olympics. Great role model. How many players would want to be in a program with her as a the head coach? ( a lot ) Maybe a dual roll as adjunct professor of orthopedics and softball coach Well even the CheapSeats will be sold out at the new stadium if you ask me.

No insider information, but what a perfect time for a former Olympic softball player & current med school professor to visit our campus! :clapping

Well I am no insider, if anything I way outside ( you know where I sit ) but I heard Dr Dot speak at an event once. Then she signed autographs and she stayed there until every person got to hold her Gold medal and an autograph. At least 2 hours. She also gave away ( free ) a lot of her books. I know that had to cost somebody something besides her time. She is an ambassador for woman's sports and she is an outspoken Christian. I will make a prediction here.... If LU gets a quality person to represent them is this sport... They will make it to Oklahoma within 2 years. 8)
