The guys aren't the only ones swinging bats in the spring. You can follow the squad throughout the season and even get the latest on recruiting.

I have to agree on Kat leaving...she had potential to take over as the ace and DiMartino would then have been the 1-2 punch with her. WHen she left, DiMartino was thrust into a role she wasn't ready for. Chandler Ball will probably be the #1 pitcher with Friesen and Brittingham serving as utility players. If Tincher is as good as big sis she could come right in and be the second starter for us but we will see how they do when they hit the mountain.

+1

When Katrina Johnson left in 2011 that set the program back.

Regardless of what the record will end up being, these young lady's lives will never be the same after spending the season with Coach Richardson, Pinto, and Cassady. Spend 10 minutes with her and you will understand what I mean.

Looking at the bio's of the 2014 recruits, it looks like help is on the way.
Same could be said about the last staff.....

It still works for me despite the apples and oranges comparison you posit shorty...the struggles are very clearly on display, but I am willing to give a lot more leeway (as I think a lot of people on here are) because of the fact that they are a brand new staff and they have had to deal with quite a few significant injuries as well. If we were 5-27 and they were in their 5th season and coming off a conference championship, Im sure that this would be a different discussion.

yes the long-term track record is not applicable.

I'm referring to the theory that W/L take a backseat to making a positive impact in kids' lives.

and I'm not insinuating that its not a noble concept. I'm asking if we're ok with that.

Every situation is different. At some places, winning is everything. At Liberty, it's important but there are things that are also important.

and I think that is the philosophy that the school has adopted.

so I pose the following questions:

why did we get rid of Ken Karcher? why do we want Layer gone?

and what about "if its Christian it oughta be better"

and why worry @ playoffs? or the Sasser Cup? or the Road to Omaha? or the Big Dance?

The goal is to win, but to win the right way. We won't win at all costs. We won't accept completely failure just because you're a good guy. There's a balance between the two.

been a week and 1/2:

we've gone 1-7 in that time

split w/ UNCG, swept by Coastal, swept by Raddy

outscored 31-82 in those games

I'd say pitching still remains a concern

done :beatinghorse but will continue to hope for the best for the team and Coach Richardson

Grace Nordan (who actually had spent the last couple years as an infielder for us) was pressed into service as a pitcher with all the injuries. I figured we would take our lumps this year. Interested in how Coach Richardson and the assistants do with a full offseason to work.

Funny. I remember everyone saying how solid our recruits were.

But I think she can get the job done. Coaches learn all the time. This is a different level than she's used to working with

Bear in mind that she is working with one freshman and 9 players junior or higher, all of whom are Wetmore recruits. All of the incoming recruits are her players so lets see how we do in 2015 and beyond. I do concur that this is a very different level of play and this is gonna take some serious adjustment

LU's record can be directly connected to the pitching woes. LU is scoring some runs, but in D1 softball, pitching is probably 90% of the game. If you don't have a top flight pitcher, you ain't gonna win very many games.

When Coach Richardson fields a team 9 of her own recruits...............look out.
