The guys aren't the only ones swinging bats in the spring. You can follow the squad throughout the season and even get the latest on recruiting.

Why does it matter?

Care to elaborate? Personally, I think the Master Plan has it right. I also think that the "new softball stadium at Worthy" might be a temporary answer... It makes sense. Why let the old baseball facilities sit idle for 3-5 years?
Continuity and semetry? Nice to have both close together as opposed to far apart. If for no other reason people will know that we HAVE a softball team and where they play their games.
There are a lot of places for a parking garage. Heck, we've even discussed making it apart of the softball complex!

I don't care if they are together or not. But no matter what, they won't be together. There is a huge honking parking lot separating them. With the various sports complexes across 460, I don't see any reason why it couldn't eventually be over there.

JLFJR has continually said that the two reasons against building a parking garage is 1) the cost per spot and 2) the impact of traffic on campus. Worthy seems an ideal location with the new entrance to Liberty being built there, plus it would be within walking distance of Liberty Commons and Williams Stadium. I don't know where these other "lots of places" would be. You could put one on East Campus somewhere, but you would have a considerable amount of bus traffic to add.

The parking lot next to the baseball field, you could turn that parking lot into a parking garage. Also, the parking lot next to the book store, that could be used as well. That lot will have access to multiple exits/entrances including the new tunnel, it's close to the football field as well.

But, I trust there are people much better at understanding land use, utilities, easements, traffic flow, code, TCO, etc at LU than me. They have done a pretty impressive job over the past 40 years. In the end, softball is finally getting a real stadium that will encourage players to want to come to LU. We will know when the construction cam goes up on the LU website! :D

When looking at LU's athletic facilities, they are among the best in the country for a "mid-major" school, and some of them may be the best.
Thus I dream of the day that softball field is as good as the other sports. I see no reason why LU cannot build the best softball stadium in the nation. Better than ACC, SEC , Big 10, Big 12 and PAC 10 conference softball Stadiums. Actual location isn't that big of a deal, whether it be at old baseball stadium, or om top of Candler's Mountain. Just build it. Now garnted, it would be great if it were somewhere around the current athletic facilities.
