The gathering place for LU alumni to wax nostalgic about their glory days and tell current students how easy they have it. Old hags & bright-eyed and bushytailed recent grads both welcome.

After years leading the Tennessee Vols baseball team, Rod is now down in Florida ...
MIAMI - FIU Head Baseball Coach Turtle Thomas has named former University of Tennessee Head Coach Rod Delmonico as an assistant coach. Delmonico, who was the volunteer assistant coach at Florida State University last season, spent the previous 18 seasons in Knoxville, where he compiled a 699-396 record, which included nine 40-win seasons and two 50-win campaigns. Those 699 wins are fourth most in SEC history.

"When you hire staff members you wonder whether you've hit a single, double, triple or home run. We hit a grand slam with the hiring of Rod Delmonico," said Coach Thomas. "He brings so much to the table from a recruiting standpoint. He has been a head coach in the SEC and is a great all-around coach, especially in the areas of base running, the short bunting game and infield play. He just has a great general overview of the game of baseball."

During his time at Tennessee, Delmonico led the Vols to four SEC Eastern Division Titles, two SEC Conference championships and eight NCAA Regional appearances. In four all-time appearances at the College World Series, Delmonico was at the helm for three of those seasons guiding Tennessee to Omaha in 1995, 2001 and 2005. He is the winningest baseball coach in Tennessee history.

Delmonico was named Baseball America's 1995 National Coach of the Year, SEC Coach of the Year in 1994 and 1995 and Tennessee Baseball Coach of the Year in 1994, 1995 and 2001. During his overall coaching career, he has been a part of teams that have participated in the College World Series six times, made 14 NCAA Regional appearances, won 10 conference or division titles and posted nine conference tournament championships.
And here is a reminder of his LU (technically LBC) roots ...
A native of Wilmington, N.C., Delmonico graduated from Liberty University in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in physical education where he lettered in baseball and soccer. He later obtained a master's degree in education administration from Clemson in 1983.
