Pastor hopes anniversary revival forges new ties to the community

Rev. Robert E. Graves: Pastor since 1988 of Welcome Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Albany, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Background: Graves was born and raised in Mississippi. He has a bachelor's degree in Bible studies from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., and studied at Faith Today Seminary in New York City, Colgate University in Hamilton and Albany Bible Institute. He has done missionary work in Kenya, South Africa, Russia, Denmark, Israel, Ethiopia and the Republic of Congo. He retired after 31 years with McKesson Pharmaceutical Corp. He and his wife, Marian, have six children and seven grandchildren.
