I happened to notice this on Wayne Haddix's wikipedia entry:

"Haddix gained a bit of notoriety in the early 1990s through his inclusion in the Nintendo home video game "Tecmo Super Bowl". Somewhat inexplicably, Haddix was among the most dominant defensive players in the game, even though he played for the (then) lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His 75 max speed and 75 interception skill combination was unmatched, and approached only by David Fulcher and Rod Woodson."

Now, I remember Bo Jackson being unstoppable in that game, but former Liberty Flame Wayne Haddix? Awesome!!

Yes, it was true. I believe Scar may have a story associated with this topic. Wayne was a freakish athlete as evidenced by his NFL success.

Apparently the year they set the player specs on Tecmo Bowl was the season that Wayne had that Pro Bowl year. As a result he was off the charts.

And yes, I'm sending this to the 'Old Folks Home' so us Old Hags can share Haddix stories.

I will say he was one of the smoothest cats I've ever been around based on the classes I had with him.

You are right Sly, Wayne was a smooth dude! Awesome athlete, (not just football). It was good to see him play in the NFL!

I had a good talk with Wayne after his first year in the NFL. He said Phil Simms kinda took him under his wing because both were from small schools trying to make it in the NFL in New York City. He said the Hancock was better than the Giants weight room facilities. I believe the Giants were defending Super Bowl Champs during his first year so I guess it was hard getting PT there. He later went to the horrible Buccanneers and led the league in interceptions returned for TDs in one year - thus the Pro Bowl. I kinda thought Mark Mathis and Richard Shelton were better corners at LU but Wayne had all the physical tools the scouts are looking for and he had a nice NFL career.
