Marietta College welcomed four new employees at the beginning of the spring 2007 semester.
Melinda M. Hicks, the new assistant professor in the history department, teaches U.S. history this semester. A doctoral degree candidate in history at West Virginia University, Hicks specializes in economic and gender history in her major field of Colonial American history. She holds a master of arts degree in modern European history from Youngstown State University, and a bachelor of science degree in human ecology from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.
She is co-editor of “Defining Security in an Insecure World: Historical Perspectives on Radicalism, Terrorism, and State Responses,” due out in April from West Virginia University Press. Hicks has taught at WVU and served as an adjunct to the history faculty at Penn State University, Fayette.
