Seven finalists competing for the position of Joplin police chief gathered at Edison Resources last night (Feb. 6) as part of a three-day interview process that included introducing them to department staff and community members.
Here's some information about the candidates:
Lane J. Roberts of Redmond, OR presently is the director of the Deschutes 911 Service District. From 1971 to 2006 he had been a dispatch/jail/records/deputy trainee in the Okanogan County Sheriff's Office in WA; a police officer in Brewster, WA; a deputy sheriff in Okanogan County; chief of police in Twisp, WA (two terms: 1977-80 and 1986-90); owner operator of the Cascade Investigative Services in WA; deputy sheriff in Okanogan County (two terms: 19776-77 and 1984-86); chief of police in Union Gap, WA; chief criminal deputy/under-sheriff in Yakima County, WA; and chief of police in Redmond, OR. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA and associates degrees in law enforcement, mid-management and arts and general studies from Wenatchee Valley College, Wenatchee, WA. From 1966 to 1970 he was a member of the U.S. Air Force.
