The gathering place for LU alumni to wax nostalgic about their glory days and tell current students how easy they have it. Old hags & bright-eyed and bushytailed recent grads both welcome.

For those of you who remember the guy some years who ate it with his tuba during the "script Liberty", his name is Stuart Payne and he had been battling cancer the past seven months. I was with him in the Liberty University Marching Band for one season when I was in grad school.

Well according to the church where he served as a youth leader, his battle ended last night:
Bethlehem Church Students-Gastonia,NC on Facebook wrote: It is with a heavy heart that we post this. After a seven-month hard fought battle with cancer, our middle school pastor, Stuart Payne passed away early Thursday night. He was surrounded by his wife, family and friends. We mourn the loss of a great friend and mentor. At the same time, we rejoice that he is now in the presence of the Lord.

Celebration of Life
We will celebrate Stuart's life on Saturday, April 27th at 4:00pm at Bethlehem Church - Gastonia NC. Stuart's desire was to have a service that was a celebration of what Jesus has done... and that is exactly what it will be!

Special Time for Students
Following the service, students and their families are invited to join together in the Bethlehem Church Student Center for snacks and drinks. Counselors will be present for students wishing to talk. Interactive opportunities will be available for students to share their remembrances of Stuart and the impact God made on us through his life.

In Lieu of Flowers and Food for Autumn
Rather than flowers and food, we are encouraging people to visit the Payne’s GoFund Me. At the celebration on Sunday, we will also have a basket for guests to leave cards for Autumn.

Caring for Autumn
One final request from those ministering to Autumn and her family. During this time, a card from you with your thoughts would be such a blessing to them. Please refrain from phone calls and texts at this time. Thank you

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reply to this email or text Pastor Cody at (336) 213-0272

Thank you for your love and prayers for the Payne family
