Lavender makes partner at law firm

Athens attorney J. Michael Lavender Jr. recently was promoted to partner with the law firm of Timmons, Warnes & Anderson LLP. Lavender, who has been with the firm for five years as a clerk and then an attorney, specializes in real estate, estate planning and corporate planning.

Born and raised in Athens, Lavender received his undergraduate degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. He returned to Georgia and attended Mercer University in Macon, where he received his juris doctorate.

He is a member of the real property and fiduciary law sections of the State Bar of Georgia. Within the real property law section, he is a member of the fraud prevention committee and recently completed the Leadership Academy of the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia. Lavender also is a member of the Federalist Society, the Christian Legal Society, the Athens Area Association of Realtors and the Athens Area Homebuilders Association.
