Wow, we really have the scanners working overtime. I remeber the Treasure Island flood in the Fall of '85 during my freshman year. And I also remember the fire that created the legendary "baldspot".

Don't stop now, medic. Keep the pics coming.

You took all those pictures yourself as far as I know.

I became a man fighting that fire. Or maybe I lost a man or something like that.

Standing in the middle of the forest, someone I couldn't see kept yelling turn or burn and right then I knew what they meant.

I was down at the bottom of the mountain at the beginning of that crazy fire line. We took the name Flames a little too literally that day(s).

Another hotel pic

Here's another hotel photo from the "girls" stairway. Remember, the guys were supposed to use
the back stairs! I scanned this old photo a few years ago and now get a chance to use it. yippee.

What year & month was the fire that created the baldspot? I've been here since '85, and I don't remember that fire.

It was during the '85-'86 school year or the year after. But I think it was the former. I can't believe you wouldn't remember it, CJ. It was definitely while you were on campus. Perhaps your WV background had you so used to forest fires you ignored all of the trucks and all of the students working in bucket brigades.

Do you know what MONTH it was or what season? That summer of '86 I moved back to the mountain state for 3 months of honeymooning in Huntington while my wife was finishing up her masters at Marshall, so I probably couldn't have seen the "flames" from there.
