The gathering place for LU alumni to wax nostalgic about their glory days and tell current students how easy they have it. Old hags & bright-eyed and bushytailed recent grads both welcome.

Lynchburg's water is actually some of the best water around. Unless we hit a drought and then they take it out of the James. they actually get their water from about 30 miles away and it travels strictly by gravity.

Food for thought, or drink for thought. Something like that.

Doesn't Lynchburg sell its own brand of bottled water that comes out of the Peddler River?

no, the water that they sell is actually just the tap water. It's called "Lynchburg's Own" or something like that. I've never found the city water to be too spectacular. I acutally thought it was gross when I first came here but I got used to it.

I was there from 74-79. You are right about some of the talent LU was able to recruit in those early years SCAR. George Sweet was/is 6'8" and was a STUD in HS, but a combination of injuries and the increasing shift of his priorities from hoops to preaching led to his getting heavy and losing his mobility and elevation. His last couple of years his heart wasn't in it. Mike Goad and Mark Chafin also had options to play at a higher level, and of course we can't forget Karl Hess, who came a little later, but had already comitted to LU before lighting it up for like 40 points playing for the PA allstars against the US stars in the Dapper Dan roundball classic. Some majors came calling after that but it was too late.

anyone ever have chili at that place? I loved going by there when I lived near Randymac my senior year (82-83). I've read posts from those who lived on Treasure Island. Lots of fond memories there as Herb Owen was my old youth group leader in Richmond, VA when I was in middle / high school. I also recall going to Lynchburg for college for a weekend where we crashed at the hotel and went to classes at the old Timberlake high school. Couldn't even tell you where it used to stand. I sure wish there was a way we could look up old year book photos on line.
