SUSAN R. PENNING
Air Force Senior Airman Susan R. Penning was named Air Force public affairs airman of the year and received the Air Force recognition ribbon.
Penning, a newly promoted staff sergeant, was selected as the air combat command public affairs airman of the year, photojournalist of the year and second-place winner for print journalist of the year. She received the J.J. Pollock Sharp Troop Award for outstanding duty performance, dress and appearance.
Penning is assigned to the 20th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office, Shaw Air Force Base, Sumter, S.C.
She is a 1997 graduate of West Perry High School, Elliottsburg, and received a bachelor’s degree from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Va., in 2001. She earned a master’s degree from Troy University, Alabama, in 2005, and an associate’s degree from the Community College of the Air Force, Maxwell Air Force Base, Gunter Annex, Montgomery, Ala., in 2006.
Penning is the daughter of Robert M. and Marge R. Allenbaugh of Mount Union.
