A Sea Of Red

Hey guys I know I have a lot of prayer requests on here, but you all are very good friends to me so I wanted to ask if you could join me in prayer for this.

I was at the Spiritual Emphasis Week service last night in teh Vines Center and was very much impacted by David Nasser's words to go and help people even here in the United States. As I was returning to my dorm, I felt that the Lord was impressing on my heart to get a group together and go minister over Spring break. I feel very much like the Lord wants me to go to New Orleans and help rebuild down there because I know that it is a very long process for many people. This is a big step for me, but I have always felt like the Lord has gifted me in the area of helps and gave me a desire to help people. If you could pray for me as I try to put this together that would be very much appreciated

This is the main reason I started looking at the Coast Guard. Their rescue operations during that time were incredible. So, I know how you feel. I'll be praying for ya.

My oldest son spent a week mucking out homes in the ninth ward 2 years ago.
He came back changed.
I encourage you to go and it is encouraging to me to see a young man bypass the beach and choose to serve......

I bet...The biggest challenges for me are going to be getting people to go and also garnering support via finances and equipment

I lead a group down to Bogalusa, LA to work on some houses two summers ago. After breaking down in to groups to spread out, we had a group of 3 middle-school girls and 2 high-school guys to completely insulate the house and get drywall up in 4 days. You don't need a lot of strength or knowledge, just a willing heart.

I agree, it is an absolutely heart-changing experience.

Thanks guys, I emailed Pastor Jonathan @ TRBC about it so we will see what develops there.

I talked to Dave Earley after church last night and he pointed me to talking to Dave Wheeler over in the seminary about it. he might be able to point me to somebody I can partner with, if he isnt a part of something going down to LA himself.

I have good news...

I talked to Dr Wheeler in the seminary and he pointed me to something called Operation Noah Rebuild through the North American Mission Board (www.namb.net) I contacted them and got the information I needed. My prayer now is that I can put together a group to go down there and work out things like transportation.
