Prayer for Mother-in-Law

My mother-in-law was recently diagnosed with a particularly nasty type of Lung Cancer back in April...and yesterday we received the news we knew was coming...perhaps 6 months with no additional treatment, and MAYBE 6-8 months left even with treatment. I have three prayer requests:
1. That God will minimize her pain and discomfort in the upcoming months
2. That I may be a rock for my wife to lean on
3. That my wife may have the chance to discuss salvation with her mom, as she is unsure of her mom's salvation (my wife's family comes from a strong catholic background).

Thanks for all the prayers. They were a source of strength for me when my dad was having a rough go of it with his heart back in early April.

Thank you for the prayers, so far. An update...

...My wife's mom has decided to discontinue all treatment and has been allowed to go home. The cancer has now spread to her spine, but not sure if it the bones or the spinal cord, itself. My wife's brother has moved in with her and she does have home care coming in for her. We will be traveling the weekend of Aug 10 to see her. Please pray that her condition will not deteriorate before then. Thanks.

I am praying as well. Its always tough watching someone you know will die at some point, but that added burden of being unsure of their salvation really can weigh on you.

Thank you all for your continued prayers. We went to visit her in the Detroit area this past weekend and had a good visit. My wife's Mom was still with it mentally and could still take care of herself to an extent and she still was very much mentally "with it."

However, I just got off the phone with my wife and her Mom is going downhill fast and they are looking to move her to 24 hour Hospice Care. She has gone downhill real fast and may not make it much longer. Please pray for Ann and my wife's brother and sister who are up there with the burden of coordinating the care...and that my wife and other brother who lives in NJ will be able to make it there so all 5 sibs can be together before the end.

Thanks, friends.

Jeff

Thanks, gang. I'm driving down to Raleigh Sat AM to drop my wife off and she is going to fly up, with a planned (but open-ended) return on Monday. I think perhaps her family up there NEEDS her strong faith in God right now to actually calm everyone.

I'm glad to see your wife making the commitment to get up there. Its not as time to pass on opportunities.

My mother-in-law just passed away at 5:30 PM today. Please pray for the family. I am struggling right now to tell my son, who is here at home with me right now. Please pray for me in that task. This is uncharted territory for him.

Thanks...once again...for all the prayers. It has helped me having folks to "talk" to. Jeff, Jr took it about like I thought...not very well. Fortunately, he went over to see his "Mom #2" (Ex-girlfriend's mom) for comfort. We leave Tues AM and fly out of Raleigh and back in on Sat.
