Anybody else on the board had it up to here with "The Secret". I am generally loathe towards anything Oprah has any involvement so I really hadn't given this book and and movement much thought. But it seems everywhere I turn I see people with this book or hear fellow suburbanites talking about it. Its the typical Eastern-based self-love tripe that New Agers have peddled for years. But the fact that it is getting such run makes it something for us to be concerned about right now.

There is obviously plenty of material on the web but I thought the following from Christianity Today was a good summary:

The Secret (available as both a book and a DVD) is no secret now, however. It has become a global video event, a clever cross-promotional marketing plan, and a book touted by Oprah.

If you are a fan of trashy Spanish television, Secretos comes immediately to mind.

I admit I have been shocked how many seemingly intelligent people (many professing Christians) are buying into this garbage.
