Since it's the Chapel... why not actually talk about things relating to the chapel...
The name of God and the various names people use to reference God have incredible meaning. It's by the name of Jesus that we're saved and its in that name we're to pray. It's in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit we're to be baptized...
The name of God has been revered by Jews even in going so far as to not write out the complete name of Yahweh. Instead the vowels were taken out so that the people of God didn't disrespect God by even speaking his name out of line.
The third commandment (I'd suppose something was important if it makes the top ten list) is a warning for us not to take God's name out of line. Exodus 20:7 "7You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name." and again in Deuteronomy 5:11 "1You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name."
It's obviously become apparent that in our culture and even among Christians that using God's name in a flippant way has become a new 'norm'. If we're irritated we bring his name into it... If we're angry we bring his name into it... If we can't believe what we just heard we say "Ohh ____."
When we do something so simple as devalue the very name of God it's no wonder that we treat Him as secondary in our lives. I don't believe a person can honestly blatantly toss out the 3rd commandment and continually disrespect God's name and then have a God-honoring life that is devoted to living in harmony with that same Creator. As Paul said "Blessing and cursing cannot come out of the same mouth."
Just some thoughts as we express ourselves.
