Hey, thought I'd better start something here - no one's posted anything in the chapel.
Last football season, there was a columnist in Hartford that complained about Uconn playing Liberty...he then went on to slam LU for being a school that basically indoctrinates students with conservative views, and Uconn shouldn't support a school that doesn't allow all views (i.e. by playing us).
I thought it was interesting when conservative speaker Ann Coulter went to UConn, the students there shouted her down...I haven't heard anything from the same columnist on how Uconn doesn't allow those with conservative views to express their opinion, and I haven't heard any LU students or columnists complaining that we shouldn't play UConn in any other sports.
It just seems like to me secular humanists (agnostics, athiests, etc), best tool is not allowing a free exchange of ideas...and then they complain that those on the religious or political right are narrow minded and not open to ideas.
Another example would be the Evolution/ID design argument. A Federal Court in Pennsylvania basically ruled that Intelligent Design couldn't be taught as a viewpoint in the classroom because it was an attempt to promote religion.
Basically, they can't even put a sticker in a textbook that says, "Evolution is a theory on the orgins of life, and it should be carefully and critically evaulated"...in other words, no other views allowed.
