Heard a rumor that LU is going to give RP a honorary degree of some type, can anyone confirm/deny? I usually don't get too excited about things like this, but I do not think this would be a good thing to do if true.

Rod Parsley is actually a pretty big deal in Charismatic circles and his church is one of the most influential in America from the Columbus base of operations. One of my wife's cousins is on the staff up there.

Even though we have different viewpoints on many issues, Parsley is certainly on our team in the big overall perspective. I'd be curious to hear if this is indeed true and what basis was being given for the honor. I'll reserve judgement until I have all of the facts.

As a rule, I'm not a big fan of honorary degrees in general but, if we're going to hand them out to guys like Sean Hannity, I don't see why we can't give one out to Parsley.

Couldn't agree more. My wife and I have this ongoing joke every year when the commencement speaker is announced b/c I got Billy Graham while she got stuck with John Borek. We argue over whether the current class is getting shafted worse than that.

Borek always reminded me of this guy, by the way )
