So, I don't often ask for prayer, but this time we could really use some. Our friends did the IVF route for children, and ended up with 5 embryos. They got 2 children, and are now offering the other 3 embryos for adoption. We have been talking about children for a long time, debating which route would be best (IVF, private adoption, foster system, international from Colombia, etc...), and well, we just need prayers for wisdom these next few weeks as we try to decide whether or not to go ahead with this option.

Just an update: today we are talking with our friends about the embryos. Your continued prayers are coveted and appreciated!

An update: the talk yesterday afternoon went well, we are likely going to take responsibility for the 3 embryos, and now its just a matter of reorganizing our finances so we can pay for the implantation, surrogate, insurance, etc. The embryos are currently on ice, and will be viable for about a decade, but obviously we are going to want kids sooner than that as we are getting older.

Been a while, so here's an update: we're meeting with the legal team on January 2. Continued prayers are appreciated.

So the meeting with the lawyer went well, contracts are being drafted, we're trying to decide which direction to go for surrogacy (a program v. independent journey), etc... Please pray for wisdom throughout the process.

We got the draft for the agreement today, and will hopefully be signing within the next couple of weeks. Now we need prayers for wisdom as far picking a clinic, and we are going to do the independent journey path for a surrogate.

We also need prayers for wisdom regarding finances. This was an opportunity we were not anticipating when it came up in August, and that we didn't plan for financially. We are going to have to do an addition onto our home just in case all 3 embryos are successfully transferred and carried to term. The plan is to sell our townhome in Maryland, and we ask for prayers that after we list it on June 1 that it will sell quickly and at a good price. The money will primarily be used to pay for an addition to our current home, as there is a possibility we could end up with three children, so need a couple extra bedrooms and a bathroom. Additionally, with being able to draw a HELOC on the townhome in Salem, VA., we should be ok. We praise God for the ability to have the assets to obtain the necessary money, we just ask for prayer that everything goes smoothly and there are no unexpected surprises.

Finally, I have a friend who is going through a nasty divorce and could potentially lose his house. When I got outted at Liberty, he offered me a room at his place. Fortunately, it never came to that. We have talked to him, and IF he does lose the house, he may move in and ultimately fulfill the role babysitter and maid. However, do pray for him, and that he can keep the house and that the divorce won't drain his resources.

So this Saturday, we're going to be signing the contract to take custody of the embroys. We will leave them in storage where they are in Delaware while we get things ready here.

Pray for WISDOM as we try to decide which doctor to use for this journey (we're leaning towards one in Charlottesville, I think), as we look for a surrogate (we're going the independent journey route rather than through a program), and as we navigate the process of getting building permits to add on to our house. I have learned far more about septic systems than I ever thought I would know.

Also pray for financial wisdom, that we will be wise with our money and disciplined with our spending as we navigate this process. Pray that when the time comes, we will be able to obtain the right loan at the right time if we end up needing one. And we PRAISE God that we have good paying jobs and resources that we can tap into.

The contract is signed, and the embryos are ours.

Our tenant has moved out of the townhome up in Maryland. Move-out inspection happening today, pre-list inspection happening tomorrow. Prayers for a quick and profitable sale appreciated.
