I was only on campus for two semesters back in 09-10, but one of the Convo speakers said something that stuck with me all these years. It's been 10 years so forgive the paraphrase, but the general though was this.

"The worship that you're getting at Liberty in Convo, Wednesday night, and Sunday morning, yes some of you are getting this high level highly Corporate worship five times a week. It's going to be a problem for some of you. It's going to do to you what porn does to so many marriages. It is at such a high and professional level, this is what these folks spend their entire day working on. It's going to set your expectations after getting it five times a week for four years way too high. You're going to go out into the world, you'll get some worship once a week. It will be good but it won't be as planned, as rehearsed, as seemless. And it might get between you and God sometimes"

My wife and I have bounced to a few churches here for a few different reasons. None were ever worship related, but we started going to a church last Sunday that has left me ducking my face into my shirt to dry the tears. I had no idea how right that speaker was back then.

Not really sure what I wanted to accomplish with the thread, but I wanted to share that with y'all. It doesn't matter to me if the conversation flows into responding to the one I posted about or into other old Convos that were more relevant than we ever believed.

I wasn't around for that one but that sounds like a lot of the awkwardness I experienced at convo.

The one that comes to mind is the one where some dude pretended go be a Muslim. I think it was '04 or '05. The entire time he put on this act only to come clean at the end. There was a point but to this day I don't remember what it was. The groan at the end was audible. It was incredibly awkward and not appropriate.

But convo for the most part was good. I didn't like it at the time but looking back I really appreciate about 75% of what I experienced going to convo. I guess I'm officially old now.

I don't remember that one, may have been working at the bookstore. However, I do remember the same guy at an LCA chapel service before then, and yes, it was awkward even in high school.
