Terrible, the holiday season permanently ruined for hundreds. More reaping, as a society, of the Godlessness sown.

Maybe it is just a coincident but when God was still in public school, there were no mass shootings. Just thinking out loud. Sad for the parents and families of the deceased.

The shooter, who sources told FoxNews.com was 20-year-old Adam Lanza, gunned down his mother and her entire class at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., according to sources. Lanza was found dead inside the school, according to officials.
A source told Fox News that the shooter's father, who was divorced from his ex-wife, was killed at his home in New Jersey. Police were also searching for two friends of the killer, who are currently unaccounted for, sources said.
Eighteen of the children were dead at the school and two more died later, according to Connecticut State Police Lt. Paul Vance.
His girlfriend and another friend are missing in New Jersey, according to law enforcement sources.
Police are also questioning another person in connection with the shooting. Witnesses told the Connecticut Post that a handcuffed man, dressed in camouflage, was led out of a nearby woods by officers. The individual is Lanza's younger brother, according to the Associated Press.

Sly feel free to move this post to a new thread but I wanted to ask this and get ya'lls opinion.
This sickens me first off. there is real evil in this world and I am still trying to process all of this.
I will be joining the ranks of conceal carry permit holders in the next few weeks. I can't help but wonder, if we allow teachers, much like we have allowed pilots, to carry firearms would something like sandy hook been prevented. I'm sure medic can attest to this but as good of a job as the police do in responding to things like this they cannot possibly be everywhere at once. If a teacher/teachers had a firearm in that school could this have been stopped? I'm not trying to start anything I just want everyone's honest opinion.

Keep in mind when I was at Liberty and the VT shootings happened we had a big debate on how professors AND students should be able to CC. I am obviously not down with allowing k-12th graders to carry guns in schools. I'm still torn on the college side. but I definitely think professors and teachers could make a difference in situations like this, if only to make it so people like this think twice knowing people in the schools are armed.

I would say it would help for a couple of reasons. Not every teacher would want too. That means only those who were conscientious enough would take advantage of the opportunity to help. Secondly, add to that the requirement to obtain a CCP and it would make it that much safer. Too many people think that because THEY don't know how to properly handle firearms NOBODY knows how to properly handle firearms

an easier solution may be to amp up the placement of school resource officers in k-5 rather than just ms and hs buildings.
the problem is that most of them were directed back to patrol assignments when the economy tanked.
pick your poison- train teachers and allow them to carry but worry about weapon retention issues or rachet up taxes to put cops in all the schools.
I hear Israel has a program where parents volunteer to sit manned security details in the schools- then again all Israeli's pull mandatory military duty.

In Israel they have armed guards with school children at all times. Especially on field trips. These people are usually parents and since all serve in the IDF, either active or reserves, they are trained. Plus, in Israel just about everyone carries a rifle and/or side arm. Sort of weird seeing guys hanging our with M-16's and M-4's picking up chicks......who also have rifles slung over their shoulders. No REALLY means No! Ha

I think the headmaster at my kids' school has a firearm in his office (can't confirm that, though). My 3rd grader's teacher is an ex-cop. I'd really like to see a few of the teachers at the school carry a firearm, but only if it's always on their person. It's a small school so it would really make a difference.
