Interview Wednesday

I've been underemployed for FAR too long now. I have an interview for a teaching position (7th grade English) on Wednesday evening. I know a current teacher at the school, and a former teacher there. I've substituted at the school; the principal will probably recognize me when I show up for the interview.

This job will seriously change things for the better around here, and I would really appreciate your prayers.

I assume this is probably a school with which I have some familiarity. Praying from here in Houston.

Other side of the river at McKell. I'm sending a resume to Minford, and possibly one to the 'burg, but not holding my breath for anything there.

Thanks, guys -- I appreciate the prayers.

I'm afraid all of the people we knew who could help in the 'Burg are either dead or retired.

Those Kentuckians could certainly use some learnin'.

I wish I knew you were looking, the school my kids attend in the 'burg was just looking for a middle school English teacher, but it's now been filled. What all do you teach?

We were referring to a different Burg.

Yeah, there's a Burg in Ohio along the river where I grew up and Phoenix now lives. It is considerably smaller.

So maybe this is why I didn't get the teaching gig. . . .

A couple months ago, I got a phone call from someone at a church just on the other side of the river. Their pastor was resigning, and they needed someone to fill in right away, and they were looking for candidates longer term. I was set to preach, then got a call cancelling it, so I decided not to send a resume. They've called twice since then, so I sent the resume. I figured this was God's "still small voice" yelling at me in the megaphone to pay attention. So I've gt a few sermons on CD to send them, and they want to see me preach one Sunday at my home church.

It's not a big church, so this will be bivocational, but I've done that before and it's not a big deal. Just would appreciate prayers -- this church seems to be doing things the right way, and not grabbing the first interested warm body (like the last church I was hired at).

Just a quick update: I'm preaching revival there at the end of the month (23-26). That Wednesday night after the service, they will be calling a business meeting for the church to vote on me. AND I preach at my home church this Sunday.
