Voice.

OK. I realize this is a silly prayer request, but still please pray. :)

I cheered to much at the LU/NC State game on Saturday, and was somewhat hoarse when I was preaching in church on Sunday morning. Sunday evening was even worse.

I've had trouble with losing my voice before, so I should know better by now...but I was not able to resist the urge to join the L-U chant every time we did it.

So please pray that I will get my voice back soon and lean how to cheer without losing my voice! I must stick to hand clapping (or thundersticks).

Thanks!

Praying right now for you, Jim.

As someone who has made a living off of his voice most of my career, I suggest a cup of hot boiling water with a dash of salt and a couple of drips of honey. It does wonders for recuperating a voice. It is an old opera remedy that still works for me like a charm.

Opera? Sounds like an old West Virginia mountain remedy (when my dad is congested, he SNORTS salt water).

My uncle who is one of your colleagues introduced it to me when he was singing in operas in Chicago & Indianapolis back in the day.

I'll have to try it, Sly, as my voice is pretty sore right now, too.

The salt helps clear out the throat and the honey coats it. Make sure the concoction is served hot.

Thanks Sly, I tried the potion you suggested. I added a teabag to make it tea with some honey and salt. It seemed to help some. I also tried the "snorting" salt (I actually did one of those neilmed sinus rinses). It seemed to help, too. But I think I've also got a sinus infection going on, so I'm also going to stop at the doctors tomorrow.

I think my problem was I already had a little bit of a cold when I went to the game...screaming the L-U just killed what was left of my throat.

Thanks for all of the suggestions and prayers. :)

My problem was staying 2 nights in a Burlington Econo Lodge that probably hadn't cleaned its air filter in years.

The sinus rinses work wonders when used regularly for allergies.

edit: Make sure you use distilled water. A guy died recently using warm tap water (from a well) and was infected with the brain eating amoeba.
