At this time I don't have an update on Stan however, the University announced in convocation that he is in desperate need of prayer so now, all the kids know and hopefully will be praying. My daughter said that in 2 of her classes they prayed for Stan. Please, if you are reading this, please lift Stan up in prayer, he is so very sick!! Thank you!

Hi Everyone, well I finally know Stan's diagnosis: guillain barr syndrome, this syndrome is very frightening... paralysis, sometimes involving the lungs, fortunately Stan's lungs are not involved... the medication to treat this syndrome is excellent and most often the body responds well! Guillain barr syndrome typically strikes just after a virus and Stan has mono, so his body was vulnerable. I have worked with several patients having this syndrome and like I said it is frightening. I think I understand that Stan was diagnosed quickly and early and that is to his benefit. Please keep the prayers coming... recovery is slow, this thing attacks with a vengeance. I will keep everyone posted and we will pray that the medication works well and Stan can begin the recovery process. He will need patience, it is a long and difficult road. All in all, those who get guillain barr syndrome typically have a good prognosis! Thanks again for all the prayers!!

Update:
Sadly, the Guillain-Barre Syndrome has progressed... Stan is now on a ventilator, feeding tube, and I think unconscious (I don't know if this is medically induced or not).
Please continue to pray.
If he does not respond to treatment he will be transported to a hospital that specializes with this particular syndrome.
I know this is such a frightening time for Stan and his family.
Please, Please lift them all up in prayer.

If we ever need evidence of how fragile life can be then this is a perfect example ... a college athlete in peak health being stricken down like he is now. Wow. Lifting him up in prayer once again in Houston.

Well, sadly, I have no real good news to report... Stan's health remains the same, on a ventilator, feeding tube and still not responding to medication. It would be a blessing to Stan and his family to have your prayers, please continue to lift him up to the Lord!
I will post any news as soon as I receive it! :(

Hi Sly Fox!
Liberty announced Stan's urgent need for prayer at the Friday Convocation last week. Our daughter had 2 additional classes that prayed for Stan. What a blessing to be attending a school where the professors ask for prayer requests at the beginning of class.
I am praying that Stan will take a positive turn soon, real soon.

Good Morning to all!
"No, the doctors are not discouraged because they said that this is the typical thing that happens and they always end up healing it is just a long recovery" This is part of a message that Stan's girlfriend sent to my daughter.
Guillain-Barré Syndrome does progress exactly the way it has in Stan and even though it is VERY frightening to both the patient and the parents, the doctors evidently seem to think it is just taking its normal course. So, I hear this as better news.
The doctors are hoping to take Stan off the ventilator today!! Also, his dad is giving him hourly massages, but he is still numb. He did wiggle his toes just a bit which is definitely good.
Please keep praying!
Thanks to everyone!!!

Excellent update!
Stan returned to school yesterday and is doing VERY well.
I know Stan's goal is to completely regain his strength and represent Liberty Tennis in the spring. He is a strong player and had a great fall season, especially being a freshman.
From what I understand, Stan has a strong work ethic and will go the distance to be healthy, strong, and 100%.
I am most grateful for all the prayers, thanks everyone!

Considering where he was just a few weeks ago, returning to tennis was the last thing on anybody's minds. The fact that he has recovered enough to even be discussing the possibility is amazing!

Yep, Sly Fox, I know what you mean!
Guillain-Barre Syndrome strikes fast and hard and leaves one as weak as a kitten.
In Stan's case, the syndrome followed its typical pattern BUT the prognosis is typically good and recovery is usually 100%.
With Stan's work ethic and determination he should be on his way to getting stronger and stronger every day.
Fortunately for him, he has several months to regain his strength and his game.
I imagine working out brings Stan a new and amazing sense of satisfaction!!

Hello Everyone! I have just learned that Stan is having difficulty with his feet and with balance. Please just keep praying that his body will once again be strong and all traces of this syndrome will go completely away. Thanks so much and Merry Christmas!
